This tour starts in Johannesburg. The Zulu’s call this city «Egoli» – Place of Gold. The first Gold was found here in 1886. Today the deepest goldmine penetrates close to 4’000m (13’124 feet or 2.49 miles) into the earth. You’ll get to know how many gram or ounce per tons of Gold are collected in some South African mines, what does Soweto means and see how a township looks like from the inside.
Then why always the Big Five?
Find out with us a new awareness and appreciate the sighting of lesser known animals. The seeing of a suni antelope also called Livingstone’s antelope or a tsessebe could be just as exciting. Have you ever heard about the little five? The elephant shrew, the red-billed buffalo weaver, the rhinoceros beetle, the leopard tortoise and the ant lion.
