Tour: Great tour of Switzerland – Part East

The first part of an exclusive and memorable journey for the perceptive and sharp traveller-motorcyclist!

Tour Description

Great Tour of Switzerland – Part 1 East

Cross through all the twenty-six spectacular cantons of Switzerland, ride over the highest and magnificent high alpine passes and have a close up in some of the country’s most thrilling and unique attractions.

This is your opportunity to sample Switzerland’s specialties and delicacies: its four languages with their various dialects; its rich traditions and culture; to taste a multitude of typical regional cuisines, and to sleep in one-of-a-kind accommodations with great views.

Discover it the authentic way, just like an insider, with a friendly and professional local guide. He speaks the Swiss languages, he has a great knowledge of the country, he can connect the participants to the local people, let you know of the uncountable particularities in Switzerland, and he will make you feel at home in this breath-taking country.

We suggest; you arrive two days before the start of the tour. This will give you time to acclimatize, to rest (jet-lag), to visit the federal capital of Switzerland Berne and its surroundings and to feel confident with your motorcycle especially if you are unsure about the riding in the Alps with switchback curves. This grand tour itinerary covers over 3’000 km (1’865 miles) and is divided into two sections. Make your choice – either Switzerland Part 1 East or Switzerland Part 2 West or why not dare to ride both!

Touring highlights

Touring with an Insider has many advantages! You choose what you would like to see or visit, and our local guide will show you the places from a different angle than most tourists see it. You will know what is behind it and why it is worth seeing it that way. Our local guide can also advise you, as many points of interest are not known by mister everybody. The devil lies in the details and some details make all the difference. You might get in touch with local people and most probably you will miss the tourist group from the bus.
A few examples to get inspired:
Walk through the federal capital of Switzerland Bern, meet a small family of cheesemaker, and find interesting things about cheese in general and why the Emmentaler AOP is called “the king of cheese” (a wheel weighs between 85 and 120 Kilograms or 187 to 265 pounds), how it is hand-crafted, why it is more expensive than other mass-produced cheeses and why it has holes. Find out the secret around the Appenzeller cheese, walk on the famous Banking place, the Paradeplatz in Zürich, Luzern with its Chapel Bridge and other local highlights, the Rhine Falls, the biggest waterfalls in Europe, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen, Appenzell, Säntis, Davos widely known from the World Economic Forum and as a start or an end to the lesser-known alpine Pass that connects Davos with the Grisons. All easy cruising with time to enjoy the various offers.
It is all a matter of taste and that differs from everyone. One thing is for sure; we are committed to making sure you have a great experience with a local Swiss Insider.
